      About the Author

Lynn Painter lives with her husband and pack of wild children in Nebraska, where she is a weekly contributor to the Omaha World-Herald and an avid fan of napping. When working on a new book, she can often be found sound asleep on her office floor. Some might say she should grow up and stop randomly dozing off like she’s a toddler, but Lynn considers it part of her writing process.

A cute cute love story..Just finished this one and to be very honest it’s not like something you never read but it was everything you wanted to happen. One night stand to best friend to fake dating to lovers . Usually I’m a fan of enemy to lover trope . Still this book has its own taste. The story is basically a bar tender name Hallie and Jake Marshall the architect had one night stand. Then they found each other in a dating app and became best friends. Both are looking for a soulmate they even had a bet who found soulmate Frist . But life has different plans you know but in the last moment Hallie lost her date to bring at her sister’s wedding and you know Jake he offered to be her fake boyfriend and then like all the great love stories they had an amazing time . The end was so dreamy I mean it was predictable but I didn’t imagine the rain and the Darcy quote 🥺 the ending is still in mind . For a moment I forgot I was reading. All the fake dating parts remind me of “The Spanish Love Deception” by Elena Armas . One thing that I like in book is when they put the text conversation this book has a lots .

The Love Wager is the story of Hallie and Jack, their journey from strangers to friends to lovers. They are sure there can be nothing between them after the stint they had at Jack’s sister’s wedding. When Hallie logs into a dating app to find love and reset her life, she matches with Jack. They join forces and become each other’s wing-person but as it’s said, you can’t run away from love, it always finds you. When Colin said, “I took her to Barnes and Noble, so she’s in bookish heaven at the moment. She probably doesn’t even care about the foot anymore.” I wished to be Liv 😉Lynn Painter always comes up with some comfort characters every reader can relate to and finds some parts of them in those. This book is another addition by Lynn to my list of comfort reads. I love how she writes fluently, absorbing a reader completely into the book that it becomes their story too. The characters are well written and developed. The story moves at a steady pace giving you the comfort to bask it all in. I just loved this book and obviously Jack and Hallie. If you are a romance lover, pick this book without any doubt.

I can just devour Lynn’s books pretty fast and she never fails to make me fall in love with the characters and the story. The Love wager being Jack’s love story who is the brother of Olive in #mrrightnumberI’ve one question for Lynn. Where do these people exist and how can I contact them? Like how can she create the bestest of people who are funny and also look hot!!! Where do I sign-up?So Jack and Hallie had a drunken one night stand and meets each other in a dating app and becomes friends super quick. They have a good genuine friendship but also flirt via texts. They help each other find their true love. But Jack starts to have actual feelings for her but he doesn’t want to risk their friendship. So when an opportunity to fake date appears, he jumps in immediately and the steam mode turns on!! I think this has more spice than her other 2 adult books. Both the characters are sweet but the chemistry goes off the chart.❤️‍🔥 A mini miscommunication in the end but it’s super mini. So I’m not considering that!.This has hookups to friends to fake dates to lovers with one bed trope added and have more romance references, us readers would dig for.P.s There are some cute cats involved..Lynn’s books are hilarious and romantic and she really makes the rom and com work in rom-com.

Pages – 320Genre – Fiction [Romance (Contemporary/Adult)]Jake and Hallie meet accidentally after a horrible mishap to have a fling that turns into an unexpected friendship which further changes into a challenge, a wager,“Whoever gets into a deep, romantic relationship first, wins.”But what Hallie and Jake don’t see coming is a wave of feelings they don’t recognise or understand, till it’s a little too late. The Love Wager by Lynn Painter is a story of wild sparks between friends fuelled by challenges and close proximity. While Halie is cute, honest and smart with a good heart, Jack is warm and impulsive, with a good heart. With this easy to read, beginner friendly romance, we get a sweet escape from reality into the complicated and fuzzy feelings of love and friendship.I constantly had one hand closing my mouth after numerous gasps. I was blushing the entire time I was reading it as I flew through the book. It contains a little bit of spice which isn’t very graphic. If you are looking for a friends-to-lovers romance to have a good time blushing and giggling, don’t miss this book!PS. It is the second part of Mr. Wrong Number by Lynn Painter but it can be read as a stand alone. Jack is the brother of the female protagonist Olivia from Mr. Wrong Number.

Not normally a friends to lovers fan, but I loved this one!“𝚈𝚘𝚞’𝚛𝚎 𝚊 𝚍𝚊𝚖𝚗 𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚘, 𝙹𝚊𝚌𝚔. 𝙸 𝚊𝚙𝚙𝚛𝚎𝚌𝚒𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞.””𝚈𝚘𝚞 𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍𝚗’𝚝 𝚎𝚗𝚓𝚘𝚢 𝚖𝚢 𝚜𝚞𝚏𝚏𝚎𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚜𝚘 𝚖𝚞𝚌𝚑.””𝙸 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠. The dark romance, ya and fantasy has been taking over my life so it was nice to take a step back and dive into a romcom to relax! And dive I did, I binged 70% of this book in a day😅 I couldn’t put it down I was obsessed!I adore Lynns writing style, someone described it as personal and honestly I think that’s the best way to describe it! I also loved the mixed media, the text message threads really added to the story and definitely paid homage to Mr Wrong Number! I really enjoyed the slower progression of their friendship in the beginning, well as slow as it could be after boinking at his sisters wedding😂 and then it really picked up pace wise at the 50% mark and I was like damn that went from 0-100 real quick😂 I am a big lover of the fake dating, one bed trope and Lynn incorporated them perfectly! There were parts I was doing that silent giddy scream while kicking my legs and with the hand IYKYK don’t judge me😭 This was my second Lynn Painter book and I honestly can’t wait to read her other works.Hallie is my favourite I adore her! She’s very true to herself; about pretty much everything accept her feelings for Jack, and she was such a pleasure to get to know. I love that she is such a people pleaser she got a cat to not hurt Rosie’s feelings (also I love how waky and crazy Rosie is and I would love to see more of her!🥹). Hallie and Jack are goals honestly I adore their friendship and I freaking melted at some of the things Jack says to her🥹 I have about 60 screenshots that I will 100% make into a quotes reel at some point😂Jack is probably a weakness of mine right now😂 he is utter perfection omg stop I can’t stop thinking about him😅😭 he truly worships the ground Hallie walks on and I am so here for it! He- dhdhdjsjjsjd I can’t I have no words😍Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed this fabulous book and I think you should read it because honestly why not and also because Jack is perfect and Hallie is adorable and they are just very cute together😍😍 Also not normally a friends to lovers fan, but my god I loved this one! So you definitely, probably, might enjoy it too😅For lovers of:- Friends to lovers- Fake dating- One bed trope- Bets / wagers- Dating apps

Such a fun read with all the best tropes! This is it, the turning point. Something has to change because this is rock bottom crawling out of a hotel room after a one night stand. Hallie’s determined to find love so she sets up an online dating account and who does she find, Jack. They make a deal to be dating buddies, helping each other escape terrible dates. And the one who finds love first wins. Everything is well and good until Hallie brings Jack as her (fake) boyfriend to a wedding where lines are blurred and crossed.Love everything about this!! It’s funny, light and reads really well. It reminds me a bit of Josh + Hazels guide to not dating along with TSLD, just add in a one night stand. Which is high praise because I absolutely love those books. This is definitely one of those books you can get lost in, I couldn’t put it down when I actually got into it. Dating buddies really needs to be a trope in itself because it always works imo. The dual pov makes it even better. I also really like the text messages, they’re really funny and a bit flirty to.There is a bit of miscommunication, or just suppressing of emotions but it’s minor. Personally I didn’t mind it. And I also want to mention that this is the second book in the Mr wrong number series. I have not read the first one yet (don’t come for me) but they can be read as standalone. But I’ll definitely go back and read the first one now!

Love with a bit of prideI’m a fan of Lynn Painters writing style. Better than the movies was devoured by me in a single day and ever since I’ve read all her other books in a similar fashion. This book is lovely, the characters are beautifully flawed but watching them both fall in love and try to deny it was a lovely experience. A wager on who could find love first, a one night stand turned best friends, so many glorious quotes and references to the Keira Knightley Jonathan McFadden pride and prejudice, exes, tacos and of course some cats for good measure. If you like Rom coms, cute quirky couples and best friends to lovers/one night stand to lovers/denial/fake dating/One bed read this book.

      9. Amazon Customer

cute and funnyEnjoyable read, the banter and jokes between the characters was very funny and witty. There wasn’t a major plot twist so that was a bit disappointing but overall it was an easy and cute read.

      10. Amy A.

Excellent banter & a duo that makes you fall in love with love📖 RomCom⭐4.5/5🌶️ 🌶️ (multiple open door scenes but nothing explicit)➡ Hallie Piper is fun, ambitious and outspoken but a year after her long term boyfriend left her heartbroken, she still hasn’t meandered back onto the dating scene. Feeling eternally lonely since his favorite uncle passed away and his little sister got engaged to his best friend, Jack finds himself rushing toward forever with the wrong woman. When a misunderstanding brings them together for a night that ends in Hallie sneaking out of Jack’s hotel room braless the next morning, they both think they’ve seen the last of each other. To their surprise, they reconnect weeks after their run in through a dating app they’ve both committed to trying in hopes of finding the one. They strike up a bet and a friendship to see who can find lasting love first- but when their dates continue to end in disaster, they start to realize their friendship may be turning into something more.◾🎯 What I loved: This was such an easy, fun read. It was a great friends to lovers trope without excessive pining- something I find most books with the trope have too much of. Both Hallie and Jack were smart, driven individuals on their own that brought out the best in each other. Their banter was top notch and I thought it was fun that their relationship was sandwiched between two weddings. The Love Wager wasn’t emotionally stressful- it marketed as a fun RomCom and totally delivered. I didn’t want to put the book down either which is always a good sign!🙅‍♀️ What I didn’t: I loved Hallie and Jack’s story but wish we would have gotten a few more snippets from Liv and Colin at their wedding (if you read Mr. Wrong Number, this is the sequel)- I’m always looking for more from happy couples!◾Read if you love:*friends to lovers*fake dating*great banter◾See also: Accidentally Amy, My Favorite Half-Night Stand, Crazy Stupid Bromance
