10 reviews for The Housemaid’s Secret: A totally gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist

      1. Aashish Ray Mallick

The book is easy to read, fast paced. Obviously it’s not the best by the Author but it’s fine.I don’t regret reading it.One thing I must add is the novel is satisfying, the ending and development are well thought after.Worth reading.

      2. Isha

Though this book is fast paced but it is not as engaging as it’s prequel. We can sort of predict what is happening or why. Still a good read.

      3. Ative

This is a very good book for every one who loves mystery novels, one of the best work by freida McFadden

      4. Lin

The twist was awesome, but I got annoyed at how Millie handled her relationship with Brocks, he seems like a genuinely nice guy and deserves better.

      5. Dr. KS Gokral

Having read the first book The Housemaid, I jumped on to the The Housemaid’s Secret immediately after. Felt like I was watching a movie!Ms McFadden is a great story teller. The story is silky smooth, slick and a page turner. Millie is a very simple relatable character. Highly recommended for a weekend read. Hope this book turns into a film someday!

Reading Frieda’s books have become sort of an addiction. I can’t put it down once i start and it’s like a rabbit hole, where i keep going deeper and deeper, reading one book after the other. And this was hands down the best sequel to the first book where we get to follow our beloved get dangerous Mille again and what an absolute joy it was. The protagonists of the book were chef’s kiss. I loved them all and there was something so sinister, dark, delicious about them..that i gobbled them all up and it wa such a fun crazy ride. There were twists alright but it was still so unexpected and yet believable – especially the last part. I am still reeling over how crazily awesome it was …and i can’t wait to pick up next book!!

Freida McFadden is my favorite author and I readed many of her books and this is fantastic to see as the Housemaid I readed it first twisted like a roller-coaster……..Thanks 😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

      8. Soumyajyoti Nandy

Was a good read and i enjoyed it. But the similarity to Nikita Prose’s The Maid caught me off guard and i kept comparing them till the end.

Well, that took a turn…📚 The Housemaid’s Secret✍ Freida McFAdden📖 Psychological Thriller⭐ 3.5➡ In the years since Millie worked for the Winchester family (the first book in the series), she’s relocated to NYC and is working towards her degree in Social Work while continuing her housekeeping/babysitting work. She’s dating an attentive, attractive lawyer who wants to move in with her and things are finally looking up for her. A gross misunderstanding with her employer however, puts her back on the job market and things aren’t looking promising until tech billionaire Douglas Garrick responds to her housekeeping ad and hires her on the spot.Working for Garrick entails cleaning his posh penthouse apartment, preparing meals in his gleaming gourmet kitchen and not asking questions about his wife’s mysterious illness, reclusive ways, what happens in the guest bedroom or the bizarre blood stains on her nightgowns. But Millie’s not one to stand for injustice and she’ll go to any length necessary to protect someone in need, even it means committing a crime…again.◾🎯 What I liked: This followed the same format (3 sections/each narrator gets one section and then chapters alternate POVs in the 3rd section) as The Housemaid so if you liked that format, this is a perfect follow-up! And if you wanted more of Millie and Enzo’s story, you’ll definitely get that. In addition to the big mystery Millie is solving, there are a few other (smaller) tension points that I think added a lot to the book and by the end of the story, I felt like Millie was in a good place as a character.🙅‍♀️ What I didn’t: I really enjoyed The Housemaid but because this followed the same format, I found the plot and twists more predictable. I also sympathized with fewer characters this time around and found myself starting to get annoyed with Millie (I struggle reconcile characters who withhold information from the people around them and this was a huge part of Millie in this book). I did, however, feel like the ending tied things up well and overall, I was entertained by this book.◾Read if you love:*martyr characters*books that feature the lifestyles of the uber rich*thrillers centered around housekeepers/nannies◾See also: Gone Tonight, The Senator’s Wife, The Perfect Marriage

Great readAfter reading the amazing first book in the series I immediately purchased the sequel. It was not quite on a par with the first book in my opinion but is still an excellent read.
