      Book Description

A heartbreaking, timeless, stay-up-all-night debut love story about Josie and Max, whose chance encounter at a London postbox one December’s evening changes both their lives in the most unexpected and beautiful of ways.

      From the Back Cover

Josie never looks forward to December. It’s always a reminder of the life she lost, twenty years ago. Now, she always switches off the radio when Christmas music comes on. She always wants to tear down the tinsel her flatmate insists on pinning up. And she always posts a letter she knows will never be read.

Max never expected to find himself stranded in London just days before Christmas. He never expected it would be so hard to say goodbye to a woman he hardly knows. Then again, he never expected to fall in love.

But, this December, when Josie’s letter leads her to Max, a chance encounter will change their lives in the most remarkable way. And their story is only just beginning . . .

From London in December and Manhattan in the spring, to Scotland in the autumn and home again for Christmas in the countryside, Always, in December will take you on an unforgettable romantic journey.

First lovely and then only sad 😭It’s been delightful to read this book. When reading I always hoped for the happy ending. And when I finally thought “now is the turning point” and hoped everything would turn out well, my hopes were shattered. For the last couple of chapters I was crying while reading. It’s such a heartbreaking story I don’t wish anyone experiencing in real life. For fellow readers: if you’re looking for a book with a happy ending and putting the book aside with a smile on your face, you will be heartbroken by the end. For those who like a sad ending and are looking for a good cry – this is your book.Nonetheless I have to say the first pages of the next book (one last gift) sound a lot more promising for a happy ending – I hope I won’t be disappointed by the next book, ‘cause still, Emily Stone has a lovely style of writing!

this story will break your heart in every way possible.First, and I think this should be in the main description of the book:this is no story for YA, or a person ‘recovering’ from the death of a loved one.It is a very nicely written story, with developing story and characters, and even though a section inbetween is more from Max’s point of view, the hits get in for Josie. If you tend to overly identify with the main characters, it’ll hit you.It teaches (again) how life can be, how important it is to appreciate every day and to be thankful for all the small simple things that make your life happy. However, I missed some sections about how Josie actually managed to cope with her losses, except for ‘time’.Spoiler alert: if you like ‘one day’, you’ll likely also like this one. no happy end.

Moving and Heart-Wrenching Holiday Must-ReadGahhhh….Heart. Breaking. Can’t. Stop. The. Tears. For the majority of this touching story, I was frustrated. I mean, come on, EVERY SINGLE TIME that Max is going to tell Josie the secret, they get interrupted by something. And so many thoughts were pondered on what that secret was. The connection that they have throughout the story is palpable and I just couldn’t understand why they couldn’t just be together.And. Then. WHAT?!!??? This could not have been happening in this moving, lighthearted book. I had seen a review that said if I was looking for a happily-ever-after holiday read, this wasn’t the story for me. But look at the cover and it’s a holiday read, so that couldn’t be right. Well, I’ll second the motion – be ready to have your heart broken and make sure the tissues are nearby.Emily Stone truly brings forth the notion of never knowing what life holds for you. Life is definitely fleeting and everyone should learn to appreciate every moment just a little more 💕
